End game ships are $30 each- sure, you TECHNICALLY don't have to buy them, but to grind the Zen you would need for 1 ship (3000), at 22 zen per day (that's if you never use dilithium), it isn't really feasible. STO is a game trying to bilk money out of Star Trek Fans who want to look at their Federation ships.
